About Us

The Geospatial (GIS) Department is charged with mapping and documenting the resources of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation within the 11-county tribal jurisdiction.

What is GIS?
GIS stands for Geographic Information Systems, and is made up of hardware, software, data, and solutions for mapping. GIS technology enables the Tribe to collect data about Tribal resources from the field and other sources and organize that data into standardized databases. You can then display that data in various products, such as maps and reports.  Click here to see our "Maps" and "Projects" pages for examples.

Mission Statement:
The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Geospatial Department will research, document, and provide geographic information to better protect and preserve the historical and current resources of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and its people. The Geospatial Department will utilize GIS software for planning and decision-making purposes.
